The Land Of Stories: The Enchantress Returns
by Chris Colfer

book cover

“The Enchantress Returns” is the second book of “The Land Of Stories” series. The book starts in the Eastern Kingdom where Queen Sleeping Beauty and her citizens celebrate the recovery of the sleeping curse, when the kingdom’s greatest fear, the Enchantress, returned. When I read this part of the story, I was both terrified and curious about what the Enchantress's goal was. Later on, the Enchantress kidnaps Alex and Conner’s mom, and the twins try to find a way to defeat the Enchantress. They find a thing called the Wand Of Wonderment which could make anyone holding it invincible. But, they have numerous obstacles in their way. Read on and find out if they can save their mom.

I really liked this book as the math problems were both entertaining and challenging. I also learned a few math tricks that usually work.

Flora And Ulysses

Flora and Ulyses is a book by Kate DiCamillo. The book is 231 pages. The book is about a girl named Flora who adopts a squirrel named Ulysses. Flora is just a normal girl who is obsessed with comics. Her favorite comic is Icondesto. I like this book because it focuses both on Flora and Ulysses. I would recommend this book to people who like animals and I would recommend this book to readers who like comics. The book is similar to a comic but in a different format.

The Hunger Games

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins is a science fiction and the first book in The Hunger Games series. Personally, this book is the best out of all the three books in the series. The book is mainly about a society in the future where the government has all power over the citizens and rules over them. Every year, they hold an event where all 12 districts in the country send one boy and girl tribute from the age of 12 to 18 to the hunger games. During the hunger games, the goal is to be the only child left (unfortunately, the others get killed). When the main character, Katniss Everdeen's sister gets called as a tribute, Katniss steps up to volunteer to go instead since she didn't want to put her sister in danger. The story focuses on the journey of Katniss during her time in the games. Near the end of the book, she does something that is considered as an act of rebellion against the government. So, this action leads to the second book. Overall, I think that this book is worth reading because it is action-packed and there is always something new that you learn about on every page. However, some parts of the book are violent so it might not be the best option for kids.

This book was humorous in my opinion and it included a lot of emotions and thrill about the story plot. I liked this book as it wanted to make me flip to every single page and read every word of it.
