Kids Color Our World 2025
Jun 14, 2025 - Aug 09, 2025
This program is designed for kids from pre-K through grade 5 (generally aged 2 to 11) to encourage life-long learning and curiosity. Use one of our
paper bead trackers
to track your reading to show our volunteers and choose your beads!
Recording your books on
ReadSquared will earn you points toward raffle tickets
for end of summer prizes.
We have lots of fun things including personal story times, honorary librarian (for a day), robots, Crayola Experience tickets, and more for end of summer prize packages.
Using the bead tracker lets you keep track of what kinds of books you read through the summer. Each time you read a book it can only count as one type of book - picture book, animal book, mystery book, graphic novel, etc. Each type of book will earn you a bead for your summer reading necklace and create a keepsake that you will have well after the summer is over. EVERYONE who registers will get a necklace, only those who read and record their reading will add beads to their necklaces and get a chance at prizes at the end of summer.

The Mysterious Benedict Society
by Trenton Lee Stewart
View in Library Catalog
The Mysterious Benedict Society is a mystery and adventure fiction book. The book was about 4 children on a dangerous mission to save the world. The 4 children are all orphans with many talents. Their goal is to go to a certain boarding school and find out how and why Mr. Curtain (the antagonist of the story) is planning to control people's minds. This book was a fairly long book with approximately 500 pages and it was a little hard to understand in some parts. However, if you like mystery, then this book is so much fun and interesting.

I knew most of the information already, it didn’t teach me anything new. It wasn’t that interesting so I gave it only 3 stars. Thank you! -young reader”
Super Boba Café

I really enjoyed this book because I love boba. There was an element of horror and funny scenes too. The main character helped her grandmother overcome a fear of the underground demon.

It looks fun because she goes to the pool every single day.
Harbor Me
by Jacqueline Woodson
View in Library Catalog
Harbor me by Jacqueline Woodson is a fiction book. The book was mainly about the narrator of the story, Haley, and her discussions with her friends. As part of a special class, Haley and her six classmates go to the ARTT (A Room To Talk) room every Friday to talk amongst themselves (without a teacher). At first, all the children have no idea what to talk about in the room. However, as time goes on, they start to open up about their lives and the many problems in the world. Talking with each other helped the children feel better about their own problems and even make new friends. Personally, I would rate this book a four out of five because the book itself was very meaningful and thoughtful but I think that it was a pretty slow book in comparison to other books that I have read before.

Communication Skills for Teens: How to Listen, Express, and Connect for Success
by by Michelle Skeen PsyD (Author), Matthew McKay PhD
View in Library Catalog
Most of the chapters contained basic information except for one about the "Hidden agendas" of people, which can really show you why nasty people act the way they do. As well as the final chapter about interviewing skills- which is really helpful as I've never had to do one before.
The Land Of Stories: The Enchantress Returns
by Chris Colfer
View in Library Catalog
“The Enchantress Returns” is the second book of “The Land Of Stories” series. The book starts in the Eastern Kingdom where Queen Sleeping Beauty and her citizens celebrate the recovery of the sleeping curse, when the kingdom’s greatest fear, the Enchantress, returned. When I read this part of the story, I was both terrified and curious about what the Enchantress's goal was. Later on, the Enchantress kidnaps Alex and Conner’s mom, and the twins try to find a way to defeat the Enchantress. They find a thing called the Wand Of Wonderment which could make anyone holding it invincible. But, they have numerous obstacles in their way. Read on and find out if they can save their mom.
This Book Is Secret
by Pseudonymous Bosch

I like this book a lot, especially the secret theme. Throughout the book there are many mysteries to solve. Cass and Max Ernest find a secret note from Pietro the famous magician. Then they go to Pietro's house to investigate. But that is only the start of their wild adventure. At the end they barely escape the Midnight Sun a group of evil alchemists. Read this book it is a lot of fun!
